18 November 2013: Students Care Service (SCS) has been providing quality services and programmes to underprivileged children and youth facing social, emotional, behavioural and learning challenges since 1976. Being one of the few Social Service Organisations with Educational Psychology Services and Social Work Services under one roof, we are able to provide a wide range of holistic services to help underprivileged and at-risk children and youths.
On 17 November 2013, SCS was privileged to be one of the 23 recipients to receive a grant from Tote Board and Singapore Turf Club at the Singapore Turf Club’s Annual Charity Race Day – Longines Singapore Gold Cup, at the Singapore Racecourse (Kranji).
The grant of $100,000 was received by Mrs Tan-Wu Mei Ling (centre) on behalf of SCS from former President of Singapore, Mr S R Nathan who graced the event as Guest-of-Honour.
The grant will go towards supporting programmes such as Psycho-Educational Assessment to enable early diagnosis and intervention for children from 5 years old, Casework and Counselling to support youths with mental health challenges like depression, anxiety disorder and Positive Youth Development programmes to reduce juvenile delinquency and steer youths-at-risk towards a crime-free and purposeful life.
SCS appreciates and is encouraged by the generous support for our work amongst children and youth.
