After the rousing success last year, Kits for Kids returned for a second round on 16 May 2015 at Kampong Ubi Community Centre. The event was once again supported by Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister for Social and Family Development, who donated 500 kits for the 2014 charity sale.
We had over 1,100 model kits donated by enthusiasts this year for the charity sale. The event drew a steady crowd of modellers, some of whom had already started queuing since 9am in the morning, even though the event opened at noon.
We were also very happy to have the support of other partners for the event, including Hobby Kulture who held an exclusive sale of their new kits, RC World of Ships, RCABS, RCHH who had a radio control vehicles demo for guests, Bandai and Sheng Tai who held a modelling workshop of their Gunpla kits, and enthusiasts who brought their exquisite completed models for a special exhibition.
With the generous donation from corporates and sponsors, together with the amount donated by modellers and supporters from the charity sale of donated kits, Kits for Kids 2015 raised a total of $49,000. The donations will also be matched dollar for dollar by the Care and Share Movement by ComChest. All funds raised from the event will be channelled to our Learning and Social Support Programmes (LSSP).
We hope that all who came down to take part in the event enjoyed themselves as much as we did. We thank all sponsors, donors and supporters of the event for helping us to make the second run of Kits for Kits into another success.
