Online Charity Fundraiser
supported by K4K

Kits for Kids (K4K) is a bi-annual event organised by SHINE Children and Youth Services (SHINE) where the scale modelling community in Singapore comes together to donate their modelling kits for charity sale. Back in 2014, the idea of a charity sale was mooted by Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, who had donated his personal collection of 500 modelling kits and has become SHINE’s Patron till today. Seeing the potential, the K4K organising committee decided to open the collection of model kits to the public to help raise funds for SHINE.

Over the years, the community has rallied an of average of 1,200 donated kits for each run of the event, and with more than $199,000 funds raised. All the proceeds from the sale of the kits are donated back to support the programmes and services by SHINE.

Nothing Is Impossible

When families face challenges, it is often their youngest members who suffer most. SHINE's latest campaign – Nothing is Impossible – means you can be a part of the solution, and in any way you choose. Everyone faces different goals and challenges. You can overcome every challenge with an open heart by rallying support from family, friends and the community. We can all be brave enough to face our challenges, together.

While COVID-19 has posed fundraising challenges, the very spirit of Nothing is Impossible has led us to combine creativity, flexibility and technology to show our child beneficiaries how anything can be overcome – while raising the funds that will rewrite their future.

All funds raised through Nothing is Impossible 2021 will go towards SHINE Children and Youth's new initiatives and existing programmes.

Kits For Kids Mega Minicon

Kits for Kids 2019 X MEGA minicon

Objective and Purpose:

Raise funds to support SHINE’s programs for the children and youth. Raise awareness of the hobby on scale modelling kits through community interest groups and awareness of SHINE.

This year the addition of MEGA minicon is a good gathering for

fellow modelers inSingapore to get involved in this Charity event.

This is the fourth time SHINE is hosting this event, with Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Speaker of Parliament as our guest of honour. Mr Tan is an avid scale modeler himself and thus this event holds a special place in his heart. For this year’s Kits for Kids, we are partnering with M Workshop to hold MEGA minicon. MEGA minicon is a scale modeling gathering for fellow modelers to get together for sharing and learning. The main purpose of this activity is to let participants have a chance to display their models and most importantly, to exchange with fellow modelers on this hobby’s tips and tricks.
