SHINE Children and Youth Services (formerly known as Students Care Service, SCS) was birthed by the then-Principal of St Andrew’s Secondary School, Mr Francis Thomas in 1976. At that time Mr Thomas observed that there were students in his school who had the potential to do well. However, due to situational challenges, they struggled in school, engaged in disciplinary issues and eventually dropped out of the school system. He then established a team of social workers to provide the necessary support to these students and their families. This team has since grown into SHINE today.
