SHINE Children and Youth Services deeply appreciates our volunteers who demonstrate what service means in a tangible way. Volunteering during COVID-19

During the COVID-19 period, there were many unprecedented challenges and the team alongside with community partners, continued to reach out and engage the children by exploring new modes of engagement.

 

SHINE launched a series of online sessions, guided by volunteers called ‘Reading Odyssey: Stories at Home’ which could be accessed through mobile phones or other digital devices.

Development opportunities

Orientation, training and recognition programmes are arranged to equip volunteers to effectively work alongside professional staff.

Types of Training
  • Prior-to-job training

  • On-the-job training

  • On-going training

  • External courses arranged for volunteers who have served for at least 6 months.
