Volunteer Tutor Opportunities at SHINE
At SHINE, our volunteer tutor opportunities are structured to accommodate various levels of commitment and availability, ensuring that everyone has a chance to make a significant impact. Whether you're looking to engage on an ad-hoc basis, commit to a project for a few months, or become a regular part of our tutoring team, we have options that can fit your schedule. These opportunities are available both remotely and on-site, allowing you to contribute from wherever you are or directly within the community.
As a volunteer tutor, you can profoundly impact the lives of young learners by guiding and mentoring them through their academic challenges. From guiding young students during holiday learning programs to providing consistent academic support for older students preparing for critical exams, our volunteers help foster a nurturing environment that builds confidence, motivation, and resilience. By dedicating your time and skills, you can help SHINE's beneficiaries not only improve academically but also develop essential life skills that will aid them long into the future.

Your Role as a Volunteer Tutor
How You’ll Make an Impact as a Tutor

You’ll offer tailored academic guidance to young learners, helping them grasp complex subjects and excel in their studies, including Math, English, and Science across various educational levels.
Engage with children and youth to build their self-esteem and enthusiasm for learning, particularly as they prepare for crucial exams like the PSLE. Your support can transform their educational journey by making learning a positive experience.
Through mentoring and structured activities, help students develop critical thinking skills. Your mentoring will encourage them to approach problems creatively and persist through challenges.
As a volunteer mentor, you will help students cultivate strong self-management skills. Encourage routines that balance study time with cognitive games and activities, thereby improving their organisational skills and academic outcomes.
Participate in special initiatives such as holiday programmes for EPS YC beneficiaries or intensive tutoring sessions during the June holidays. These provide crucial support during critical times in the students' academic year, helping to reinforce learning and preparation.
