What is YCD?

SHINE Children & Youth Services is in partnership with Youth Corps Singapore to set up the SG Cares - Youth Corps Development Team @ SHINE Children & Youth Services (YCDT @ SHINE).

SCOPE AND AIMS OF YCD

Our Goal Is To...

• Support agencies to build Youth Volunteer Management Capabilities in the community care sector

• Roll out Community Service Programmes

 

 

• Grow Youth Volunteering Communities in Singapore

  • Grow locale-based youth volunteering opportunities

• Partnerships with SG Cares Volunteer Centres, Social Service Agencies and Public Service Agencies

Children's programmes

  • A Walk Series: A Walk Series introduces children to the heritage and biodiversity in Singapore through interactive activities and trails. Currently, we have trails in Jurong Lake Gardens and Rifle Range Nature Park

 

  • Art-Kid-Tech: Be an architect in a child’s life as they develop their artistic side with various forms of digital art!

 

  • SPACE: Highlight the importance of environmental conversation with children as they put their learnings together in a simple performance at the end!

 

  • Once Upon A Virtue: Once Upon A Virtue is a storytelling program designed to help children learn about 5 Core Virtues through engaging narratives

 

  • KidsLearn: A early literacy and befriending program that aims to provide reading and phonics enrichment for young preschool children aged 5 to 6

 

  • Coding Games for Kids (CGFK): Coding Games for Kids aims to promote fun and learning for Primary 1 to 3 children from low income and vulnerable families through the interactive codeSpark platform.

Seniors' programmes

  • Project OMEGA: A senior befriending programme promoting seniors’ wellbeing through nagomi art and mindfulness.

  • Project AL:PHA: Engage seniors in reflective storytelling through photo-taking walks and digital scrapbooking!

  • Project ROSE: Reach out and befriend vulnerable seniors in the community to make sure they’re well-engaged and taken care of to reduce social isolation!

  • Project Sunflower: A door-knocking programme to profile seniors in an estate to determine their risk levels.

​

  • PROTEC: Educate seniors on digital literacy and cybersecurity to reduce their vulnerabilities to evolving technology and scams!

​

  • SENSEWalk: An outdoor programme aimed at promoting intergenerational bonding and exercise in nature.
