Clubhouse Collective

Clubhouse Collective is a community-wide initiative with a focused common agenda: improving the social mobility of children and youth (ages 5–21) living in eight public rental blocks in Jalan Bukit Merah.

The Collective pursues this through the Collective Impact framework — one of Singapore's first applications of this approach — aligning schools, social services, and community partners around shared goals, shared measurements, and mutually reinforcing activities. SHINE anchors this work as the backbone organisation, providing the coordination, infrastructure, and strategic alignment that keeps partners focused and moving together.

Together, partners build the human, social, cultural, and economic capitals that create real and lasting pathways to stability and social mobility.

From Participation to Contribution: Clubhouse Ambassadors Leading the Way

After two years of active engagement in Clubhouse activities, a number of children and youths began expressing a desire to give back to their community. From helping to prepare programmes and share feedback, to volunteering regularly with our Reading Odyssey literacy programme, they stepped into meaningful roles with confidence and care.

In 2025, this growth came to life when children and youths volunteered as Clubhouse Ambassadors at a community block party, welcoming guests and leading activities for the first time. Supported by older youths who modelled leadership, they showed warmth, confidence, and a strong sense of responsibility—reflecting the empowering environment the Clubhouse aims to create, where young people are supported to grow, contribute, and lead.

The Power of Collective Impact

When Clubhouse identified a gap in formal academic support, MENDAKI stepped in to implement their existing programme on-site. Within two months, the MENDAKI Homework Café was running at the Clubhouse. The team listened, adapted, and continued refining their approach, working closely with the Clubhouse team to shape sessions around the needs of the children and youth who walked through the door. This is what the Collective is built for: partners close enough to hear the gaps, and committed enough to respond together.

Moments of
Belonging

When Clubhouse needed an emcee for our Iftar community dinner, a parent stepped forward — a professional who brought more than just a microphone. He gave his time, supporting the team in shaping the evening into a more meaningful experience, and took a youth client under his wing as co-host, guiding her with patience and generosity. In one evening, a parent became a contributor, a youth found a mentor, and a community dinner became a shared moment — one the whole room felt together.

Moments of
Belonging

For Clubhouse’s third anniversary, we invited members to mark the milestone in their own way. One girl responded with a detailed portrait of the Clubhouse container, complete with SHINE staff, her siblings and friends, each captured with the small quirks she had quietly noticed over the years. It was a simple gesture that said something more: this place belongs to her. She doesn’t just attend programmes — she sees it, remembers it, and calls it hers.
